Home Visiting

Parents as Teachers

Building Braves offers a home visiting program which follows the nationally recognized Parents as Teachers home visiting model. This program is open to any Pequea Valley family with a child between ages prenatal - five who plans to send their child to PVSD for Kindergarten.

The Home Visiting program is offered on either a biweekly or monthly basis and implements the Parents as Teachers Curriculum, focusing on parent-child interaction, child development, parenting and family well being.

Pequea Valley believes you are your child's first teacher and we have created this portion of our program to walk alongside you as you parent your child the best way you can!

Parent Testimonials:

"This program has been a big help and support to my family and kids. I have seen so many improvements in not only my children but also myself. I don't think I would have had this much growth in my own parenting and in my kids education and behavior without this program. Thank you for having this available to families in the community."

"Definitely a great program, especially for kids with less opportunity for early education settings (i.e.. preschool) and less social interaction."

"My daughter has so much fun when my literacy liaison comes to visit and she has learned so much. I highly recommend this program."

"We are so grateful for this program. Our 3yr old son has become curious about learning and loved every visit. We as parents benefited from our literacy liaison's early childhood knowledge and her empathy for our family's challenges. Thank you!"

"The growth I made that I am most proud of is consistency and (giving) positive feedback."

"We were very pleased with this program. (Our Literacy Liaison) brought light to issues I've never even thought of and helped tremendously with providing info for preschool. She even incorporated our 6 month old even when she wasn't the happiest baby."

"I am most proud of my child's growth by: They are more interested in reading books and asking more questions to help them learn more. Different activities I learned in this program has helped myself interact with my children and connect with them more."
