Tech Coverage and Online Portal Information
July 22, 2019
Greetings Parents/Guardians of K-12 Learners,
Welcome back for the 2019-20 school year! As the beginning of the school year rapidly approaches, it’s important we share information with you about some back to school items so that everyone is prepared on the first day of school. Please complete the following:
- Sapphire Community Portal Account
Each parent/guardian must have a Sapphire Community Portal Account. Electronic letters and parent communication will be distributed through the Document Center. Demographic and Medical forms will also need to be updated for each child. Instructions for creating a Sapphire Community Portal account are attached.
- Transportation Information
Transportation cards will no longer be mailed. Parents/guardians must login to the Transportation Portal to see bus information. In order to access your child’s bussing information, you will need their Student ID number. This information can be found in the Sapphire Community Portal. Instructions for the Transportation Portal are attached.
- Free/Reduced Lunch Eligibility
To apply for meal assistance, please visit www.schoolcafe.com. See the attached document regarding eligibility and requirements. If you qualify for meal assistance, you can receive a discount on technology coverage! Make sure you apply BEFORE completing the Technology Coverage form in Family ID.
- Technology Coverage
We will continue to use Family ID to administer all of our technology forms. Step-by-step instructions are located at www.pequeavalley.org. We DO NOT use paper forms. If you do not have Internet access at home, you may come to any of the school offices to complete the online forms and pay for technology coverage, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Households that complete technology coverage registration BEFORE August 22 will receive a DISCOUNTED EARLY BIRD RATE!
All devices will be given out during the first few days of school. Family ID is being used for grades 5-12 ONLY. K-4 learners will receive information about device take-home directly from their learning facilitator at the start of the school year. While in the Family ID portal, please be sure to review all policies with each child in your household, including the K-12 Learner Technology Coverage Policy, Parent/Learner Device Agreement, and Learner Network/Internet Safety Policy. It is important that everyone is aware of the expectations for use. There are electronic signatures required, and the technology fee can be paid via cash, check, money order, or on the Family ID site using PayPal or a credit card. Laptops cannot go home with learners in grades 5-12 until online Family ID forms have been completed, Sapphire data has been updated, technology coverage has been paid, and any school or technology obligations from last year have been paid in full.
Please review the additional documents (linked above) that provide information on the Sapphire Community Portal, Transportation Portal, and free/reduced lunch status. Feel free to contact your child’s building office or the District Office with any questions or concerns.
